About Our Practice

Dr. Derek Vogelpohl and his business partner Tony Menke opened up Clear View Vision Center in August of 2020 at a new business complex on the corner of 10th Street and Avenue H. Dr. Derek Vogelpohl took on the role as business owner as well as the practice's optometrist. Tony Menke as owner and manager handles the business operations of the practice.

Dr. Vogelpohl is originally from Pittsfield, Ill., and after doing his undergraduate work at the University of Illinois in Champaign, he went to the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago where he graduated in 2013 Summa Cum Laude. Menke is a West Point native and attended the former Marquette Catholic High School with a bachelor’s degree from Iowa Wesleyan College.

Before Clear View Vision Center, Dr. Vogelpohl was an optometrist at a local eye care clinic since 2013 and Tony Menke also worked for the company. Near the same time, Tony was at the point professionally where he was interested in running an optometry practice that he could have more influence on in the day to day. That's when the Clear View Vision practice concept was born!

The building itself was formerly a couple of restaurants and before that, the longstanding Bentler Rental business, but it sat unused for a few years before developer Dustin Limberger bought the properties and cleaned them up. Team Staffing Solutions Inc. moved into the south half of the building in January of 2020, and Clear View Vision Center moved in the north half of the building for its use.

The team had looked at other places, but this spot had easy access for patients, a good location right next to downtown and of course, it gave them the opportunity to design their own office. It was the obvious choice.

Dr. Vogelpohl is accepting new patients and offers the gamut of optometry care from eye exams to medical eye emergencies. Clear View Vision Center also accepts major medical insurance as well as many vision insurances.
